What SQUID actually costs, what the headline price leaves out, and how it compares to Leal.
An Irish digital loyalty network. Customers install the SQUID app, tap a physical SQUID Tag on your counter to collect stamps, and can earn and spend Wave Points across the wider network. It is also sold as SQUID Loyalty.

What the headline price does not tell you
Costs and terms that are easy to miss when you are budgeting.
The price is indexed to your success. SQUID bills on the number of customers actively using your loyalty program each month, so the better the program works the more it costs. Going from 40 regulars to 600 takes you from €15 to €75 a month for exactly the same product.
SQUID's own annual checkout states that renewal "will be based on the average amount of active users you had in the 6 months prior to renewal". Year one is discounted (it shows €328 for what it calls a €950 plan), so the intro price is not the price you keep. The more customers use the program, the higher the renewal.
You pay before anything is live. SQUID's checkout charges €24.14 up front (a €19.95 SQUID Tag and Marketing Pack plus €4.19 VAT), and the loyalty program cannot run until the physical tag is delivered and activated. Subscription billing then begins on activation.
Every plan is priced per location. A second site starts again at its own tier.
Your customers must download the SQUID app to join. On iOS that is a 111.8 MB download and an account signup before a single stamp can be collected at your counter.
Stamps are collected by tapping a physical SQUID Tag using NFC. The tag is a small wooden cork puck that sits loose on your counter rather than being fixed down, so it can be knocked behind the till, tidied away or simply pocketed. If it goes missing, nobody collects a stamp until a replacement arrives.
Push notifications reach your customers inside the SQUID app, alongside the other businesses on the network, rather than from a card carrying your own branding.
Because the customer taps the tag themselves, nothing links a stamp to a transaction. An Irish coffee shop leaving SQUID in early 2026 gave exactly this as a reason, citing customers collecting stamps before payment and people collecting on behalf of groups who did not have the app.
Wave Points Earning Partner pricing is not published at all. The pricing page sends you to sales.

When SQUID is the better choice
We build a competing product, so treat this page accordingly. There are still real cases where SQUID is the right call and Leal is not.
- You want the network effect and you are happy to pay for it. SQUID says it has around 750,000 active users and more than 4,000 partner businesses in Ireland and the UK, and a listing in that app can genuinely put you in front of people who have never heard of you. Leal gives you no discovery network at all.
- You have fewer than 50 active loyalty customers and expect to stay there. At €15 a month, SQUID's entry tier is cheap, and Leal's paid plan is more expensive at that size. Leal's free plan is the honest comparison here, not Pro.
- Wave Points is genuinely novel and there is no Leal equivalent. If you want customers earning a shared currency at Tesco and spending it with you, SQUID is the only Irish product offering that today.
- You want someone else to run the program. SQUID partners consistently praise a proactive customer success team that calls with promotional ideas. Leal is self-serve by design.
Frequently asked questions
How much does SQUID loyalty cost?
SQUID's Digital Loyalty product is priced on the number of customers actively using your loyalty program each month: €15 for 0 to 50, €35 for 51 to 100, €55 for 101 to 500, €75 for 501 to 1,000, and €95 for 1,001 or more. The plan adjusts automatically each month, so the bill moves up as the program works and back down if activity falls. Wave Points Earning Partner pricing is not published and is quoted by volume. Redemption Partner has no monthly fee but carries a €25 one-time setup fee for businesses new to SQUID.
Does SQUID pricing go up as I get more customers?
Yes. That is how the published tiers work. SQUID states that your plan adjusts automatically each month based on how many customers use your loyalty program, which means a successful program costs more to run than an unsuccessful one. A cafe that grows from 40 active loyalty customers to 600 moves from €15 to €75 per month, a 5x increase, for exactly the same features.
Is SQUID's renewal price higher than year one?
Yes, and SQUID says so on its own checkout. The annual plan is discounted in year one (it shows €328 for what it lists as a €950 plan, up to 65% off), and renewal, in SQUID's words, "will be based on the average amount of active users you had in the 6 months prior to renewal". On the monthly plan the same logic applies through the bands: a cafe that starts in the 0 to 50 band at €15 and grows to 300 active customers is on €55. Either way, a successful year makes the next year cost more.
Do my customers need the SQUID app?
Yes. SQUID's stamp cards live inside the SQUID app, and the App Store listing describes downloading the app, signing up, finding a business through the in-app Discover feature, and tapping the phone against a physical SQUID Tag at the counter. Leal takes the opposite approach: the card is added to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet from a link or QR code, with no app to install.
Why do businesses leave SQUID?
The publicly stated reasons tend to cluster. An Irish coffee shop that dropped SQUID in early 2026 cited a monthly cost it could not point at anything tangible for, an app that did not always function properly, customers collecting stamps before payment, and people collecting on behalf of groups who did not have the app. The last two follow from the tag model: because the customer taps the tag rather than staff scanning a card, nothing connects a stamp to a sale.
Is Leal cheaper than SQUID?
It depends on your size. Leal's free plan is $0 with unlimited customers, so at every tier above SQUID's entry level Leal is cheaper. If you have under 50 active loyalty customers and want a paid plan, SQUID's €15 entry tier is cheaper than Leal Pro at $99 per month. The difference is what happens next: Leal Pro stays $99 whether you have 50 customers or 50,000, while SQUID's bill climbs with yours.
